Job offers that want a deposit first

Longer note · updated October 2026

A genuine client pays you. An offer that asks you to pay first, in any form, isn't work.

How the request appears

  • Registration or "activation" fees before you see any tasks
  • Training you must buy from the person offering the job
  • Equipment or kits purchased from them
  • Deposits to unlock better-paid tasks or to withdraw earnings
  • Receiving and forwarding money, which can involve you in a crime

Earlier signs

Messages you didn't ask for, pay far above normal for simple tasks, contact only through private chat apps and pressure to decide quickly.

What to do

Don't pay or forward anything. Stop replying and report the account. If you've already paid, call your bank straight away and report it to the police or your country's fraud reporting service.
